Historic Roswell: older homes, careful repairs
Roswell has one of the oldest town centers in the north metro. Around Canton Street, the Roswell Mill and the historic homes near Bulloch Hall and Barrington Hall, you find houses with wood siding, deep porches, original windows and decorative trim. Repairs here are less about replacing and more about matching: a porch column base that has rotted, a run of fascia, a window sill or a section of beaded board that needs to look like the original.
Exterior changes inside the historic district can require approval from the city, so we always recommend checking with Roswell before changing materials or colors. For repair work that keeps the same look, we cut out rotted wood, fit new pieces to the existing profile, prime every cut end and paint so the house is protected from the next wet season.
